How about using that $1.6 trillion to pay off some of the $3 trillion that Reagan and Bush Sr. borrowed? Do you like spending $200 billion a year in interest on the debt?

How about cutting spending, or even just restraining its growth and using that to pay off the debt. It wouldn't take much of a cut to pay off all the debt within 10 years.

How about doing our children a favor and quit robbing them?

That would be nice but the government has to rob them (impose taxes on them) because without the taxes there can be no government and thus you get anarchy. I don't think anyone here would support anarchy as the solution to our problems.

The Fed has been working very hard to slow growth over the last 8 years.

It looks like they have succeeded.

A stimulatory tax cut serves no purpose, and will lead to higher interest rates.

When things are good, "A tax cut will overheat the economy." "When things are bad "A tax cut will increase the deficit to much." I might be more willing to pay attention to arguments about the timing from people who do support tax cuts at some actual time. I more considered with having a tax cut for reasons of reducing the burden of the government on people and letting them keep more of their own money then I am in a tax cut to stimulate the economy. I'll take one when I can get it.

BTW: Pleez don't ever feed me that crap about how most of the tax cut goes to the poor.

I didn't say that most of the tax cut goes to the poor. That isn't true because they don't pay most of the taxes. What I did say is the rate cut for the poorest taxpayers is larger then that for the rich. The lowest tax bracket goes down 33%. The highest tax bracket (and all other tax brackets) goes down by a lesser %.
