Naz: Barrera fight will make me
by Jason Williams

At a press conference held in England yesterday (1/23) to confirm the Naseem Hamed-Marco Antonio Barrera clash - set for the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on April 7 - former WBO featherweight Champion, Prince Naseem Hamed spoke of this being his "defining fight". Hamed (35-0 with 31 knockouts) said "This is the fight that is going to make me, just like Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler made each other. One of us will get knocked out, I can tell you that,'' warned Hamed, "God willing, I feel I have the strength to knock out Barrera in style." The pay-pay-view event will Hamed's first fight in Las Vegas and his fifth in the US. It is still uncertain whether or not a title will be on the line or whether the bout will be scheduled for 10 or 12 rounds.

"Barrera fight will make me..." Unconcious, Naz. That's the word I'm thinking of. I'm easily taking Barrera in the mid-to-late rounds here, something like Rd 5-9, though I'll tighten that up before the actual bout.
