Hi Ian, tg, Ken & all - with regard to the broadband deployment, I think it really depends on the geographic region. You and tg are in Canada and you folks may have a better chance. In the US, there are all sort of horror stories. I ve resisted my ISP [at home] temptation b/c of the situation. Besides the CO issue, RBOC, DSL wholesaler and ISP are not working together to help the [retail] customers. A lot of finger pointing. A friend of mine was sold a T1 line instead of DSL at a much higher cost. He bought it anyway b/c his business couldn't wait. It might very well be blessing in disguise, for he could get stuck in a don't-blame-me land if the DSL line had crashed.

I think they [RBOC, DSL provider and ISP] will have a better chance of deployment if customers know who to turn to when they ve trouble. But of course, carriers may not have a whole lot of incentive to help if they can't kill off the DSL providers and assume their business.

best, Bosco
