There's the catch. Intel already shipped 50K Itanium machines (in some form or other), but this still isn't a production release. Intel would rather push out the Itanium schedule than release the darn thing early, only to be hit by an embarrassing bug.

This isn't a 1.13 GHz Pentium III, you know.
