Sorry, DEFRAG is a Windows program. It relies on the Windows environment. Type DEFRAG in DOS, and it will respond with an error message.

There are DOS based Defrag programs, but unless they were designed to work on a Windows machine, they may make a mess. A couple of issues: FAT 32, and long file name support must be addressed during defragging.

You have a good idea about giving things a rest when you're tired. I couldn't count the problems people create when they plod onward when exhausted. You'll be surprised how easily this stuff comes together once your fresh again.

Cheers, PW.

P.S. If they (Dos Defrag on a Windows machine) make a mess, it will be a REALLY BIG MESS!
