Thank you for your well-reasoned reply. Again, my compliments
on your well developed skills of articulation. It is a pleasure to read your well connected thoughts and ease with
which you string your thoughts together. An absolute rarity in these days of diminishing educational results among our
populace.
I agree that SI can be many different things to different folks depending on their circumstances. For me, it has been mostly about the markets and learning all that I can about the many layered aspects involved. But over time, I am finding it is also becoming a social meeting place of sorts.
I realize many unselfish, good natured individuals come together on this site to share information, comradery, and an occasional bicker...ggg
As far as the points you made, I believe they have "stuck" quite well. Manipulation in the marketplace is a phenomena inherent in situations where humans come together with other humans in the effort to best one another for financial gain.
Going through myriad disciplinary actions against brokers and brokerages, manipulation is indisputable (and to your credit, you never denied the existence of such). At the same time,
watching market action (no matter how suspicious it appears),
manipulation is also largely unprovable, except in cases where it can be determined clearly that rules were broken.
So, I think it comes down to what perspective one's personality leans towards, and also considerations of the effect of one's beliefs. If it helps one in their trading endeavors to believe manipulation is lurking around each corner, then I think it is beneficial. If it helps another to believe that the markets are efficient and fair, likewise,
whether true or false, the effect on the believer is positive, perhaps even better in that one can check cynical baggage at the door, providing a more positive attitude.
I highly doubt, at this point, anyone thinks you are really an idiot. For what it's worth, in my case, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I apologize for my own rudeness
in attacking your position and realize I was out of line in
the manner I intruded on the discussion. Having been a MDD
regular since I joined SI a year ago, I have been sensitive to the consistent barrage of individuals seemingly coming out of the woodwork, to take out of the context of an entire discussion, a point made and the clear LG bashing which takes place. While I admit I don't know LG well, my perspective is that he has been fair in running his thread, even if he is
somewhat overzealous in maintaining his thread guidelines.
I have had no problems with him, and it amazes me he such
a large following of detractors. Somewhat baffling to me. In either case, I have found that thread and the many contributors beneficial to me, and I do not feel stifled by maintaining a manner of civility in that forum.
In any case, I guess that hatchet will have to rust away buried in the ground. I have your thread bookmarked now as
I would like to keep an eye out for the pearls of wisdom which are sure to surface. Who knows, I might even learn a thing or two about the enigmatic sport of boxing. And, if you don't mind, I might even drop in for an occasional chat!
Best of luck to you as well, in your everyday life and in the markets.
Regards,
Eichler
