It was the old under promise, over deliver routine. Dale was very cautious in the Q3 CC and then produces a $50 million quarter. The earnings press release is very clear about settings some goals for 2001 (when was the last time Borland stated goals?). Here they are, straight from the press release:

-- to achieve 20% revenue growth;

-- to be the leader in cross-platform development, deployment and
management; and

-- to expand its global presence into high growth potential markets
including China, Korea, India and Latin America.

Overall, a very bullish outlook from the press release.
