I agree with your observation and I feel a comment should be made regarding the lack of posting on both of the mentioned threads.
I think alot of the posters on the threads are using discount brokers(not all) and we all know their policy regarding shorting of stocks especially CDNX stocks.With the falling out of beds in the markets from the first of April until the middle of December there was very little posting done since most are forced to buy long by their discount brokers and are not allowed to take the contrairian position.Hence, a dimished participation until of late.Atial kept it going and then an attempt to revive it was made by Parker(kudos to him for the effort).My problem was not the picks or the heads up but the flaming and arrogance ehxibited as this was being done.Buddies? Well possibly that is correct as for the past three years I have discussed trades and companies with many different posters either on the threads or via e-mail or Private message.In doing so you get a good feel for the individual and their thinking.You see their losses as they see yours and yes, you feel for them when they lose and are happy when they win so I guess you can call them buddies.I have had the good fortune to meet with, or speak on the phone with, a number of them.I have found none that are rude or arrogant, but are respectful of others and opinions whether they agree or not. I have always said make your own decisions and respect others.
If someone posts that they are in a stock like WV.V and I see it as a short I don't post that.I play it as I see it and did twice and made money both times.I still respect their decision as I hope they respect mine.
In the enviornment we experienced in the last 9 months there have been people who have gotten caught in the downdraught and I admit I am a bagholder on a couple but I know what is going on so I sit with them.Others have been less fortunate.As a result people have resorted to well researched position trades and on some of them have done very well.This is evidenced by past postings.
The Chief has stated he does not trade VSE stocks and that is fine.I understand as he makes his living from trading whereas I do not.I have my other businesses.The Chief requires liquidity to not only make money but be able to stop out when necessary.That is his style and I respect that and fully understand.
On the other hand there has been a large entry in the on-line trading sphere and with it comes all kinds of personalities.Some caring and concerned and others who don't give a damn and take the "dog eat dog" approach.That is fine but consideration for others is important.Courtesy costs so little but earns so much.As a result, I will apoligize to anyone whom I may have offended but enough is enough.SI is for all to share, learn, and make money.If we work together instead of our constant bickering maybe we can all learn instead of being led by self appointed gurus who look down on others.
Hell, it is tough enough in the markets trying to work the system and beat the insiders, the traders who manipulate the stocks and the ever present inadequacies of the on-line trading systems alot of people are stuck with.
FWIW- i opened three on-line acoounts and have two full service brokers I use for execution and to short the CDNX when I trade and I usually post when I do.I will continue to do so as long as it does not go contrary to other posters posts.
Oh enough of this.....i am rambling but most of you understand what I am trying to say here.Let's make some money.
