Look, I don't mean to be dense here, but did you send the post you are complaining about to SI Bob at the time you first objected to it, when it first appeared, with an explanation of why you object to it and a request for a specific action you desired, such as an admonishment, or slap on the wrist?
The logistics of administration require certain things, and trying to get actions from an administrator of any large, ongoing program requires certain things.
Prompt reports (and specifics, or, on SI, links) of activity you would like punished or admonished is required. To me, personally, it seems unreasonable not to report something at the time it happens, later perceive that some tattle tale on the other side has reported something less serious and gotten action on it, and express bitterness at the double standard of SI Bob for not responding to what you show him later.
You must act promptly, and you must provide the administrator with all he or she needs to do, with dispatch, what you feel is right. The argument, the proof.
It'd be impossible to do it the way it's being proposed: You show him something that happened, say, three days ago that you say is worse than what he just admonished (at the RWers request). Tardily, Bob admonishes that. That party then goes back two more days to show why he or she felt provoked to write the post you just got admonished. So he even more tardily admonishes that offender. Who comes on and complains that if his or her post got admonished, why weren't the three posts from week before last that provoked his or her post deleted and admonished.....
Late reports will get no action. Non-specific, undocumented characterizations or complaints won't either. At least they wouldn't from me, if I had SI Bob's job.
Practical Rule of Life: The side that runs to dadda the least often, the least promptly, and with the most general, global complaints will get the least action. Make doing what you want really easy, and you're more likely to get what you want. |
