i think it's rather worrisome that these job cuts happen at an unprecedented speed...in the information economy, negative feedback loops seem to develop much faster than before.

The question may be whether the feedback loop is positive or negative, and the difference is often the time delay and phase of the impact. A negative feedback loop is regulatory or correcting. A positive feedback loop is regenerative and oscillatory. Every attempt to control (or react to) the economy has an unknown and changing time delay which means that its result is often the opposite of what is intended.
