Tim, The Vince Foster topic consumed the press for weeks. Clinton cut several press conferences short, because that was the only issue they would ask questions about. It took two special prosecutors dropping the issue before the Washington regained their sanity. Whitewater also consumed them for years, before that was dropped. The first couple months of Clinton's presidency, Time and Newsweek were publishing articles saying that he wasn't going to last the year. The right wing has learned how to manipulate the press quite effectively. Endless whining about the "liberal media" has pushed the press further and further to the right over the last two decades.
