Mr. Golub served as Chief Executive Officer of American Express from 1993 to December 2000. During this period, he led the company through an extraordinary turnaround, resulting in total shareholder return of more than 800 percent and an increase in market share after several years of decline. Under his leadership, the company's market capitalization increased from $11 billion in 1993 to $73 billion at year-end 2000. Mr. Golub joined American Express in 1984 as President and CEO of IDS Financial Services, now American Express Financial Advisors. Prior to joining IDS, he was a senior partner with McKinsey and Co. Mr. Golub serves on the Board of AirClic, an internet infrastructure company; as Senior Advisor to Lazard Freres; and as a member of the Boards of Dow Jones & Co., the Campbell Soup Company, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the American Enterprise Institute, the New York and Presbyterian Hospitals, Inc., the New York City Partnership and Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way of New York City.
