Quehubo007,
After a Nov/Dec that were, for the nation as a whole, coldest on record, we have had a Jan thaw. Forecast models show some confusion, especially the ten day ones, because they are showing cold weather patterns for regions of the world which should not coexist with a warmer than normal model for the East Coast. In any case, winter weather so far pretty much bang on with my winter weather forecast posts from early fall.

We have flow patterns setting up in Alaskan Gulf, a polar vortex off Baffin Island area.
All we need is a transpolar flow setting up in early February (watch NW territories) and the NAO to go negative and we will have a very chilly February for the record books. The computer models don't do the polar flows very well so a surprise would not be extraordinary here for their 10 and 30 day forecasts.

March I expect to go warm with an early spring in the East and later this year an El Nino will develop out of the dying La Nina. Been hard to keep that La Nina in the grave the last few weeks though, ggg.

A cold February and a potential warm spring summer for the East could be good news for NG. Might not be much of a shoulder season. Caveat is, I seldom do summer forecasts...

Best Regards,

Roebear
