Well to be strictly accurate, the organized chorus started just after the automatic recount -- both sides knew they had no choice about the automatic recount. I had CNN on most of the time, and the GOP chorus was exceptionally organized. Same line from every officeholder and spokesman. The Democrats tried, but it took them a while to get their spin as well organized, imo. I don't think it surprised either side that Gore gained in the automatic recount -- according to what I have heard, you always gain votes when recounting punch cards due to hanging chads falling off. And most of the punch card votes were Democratic. Her interpretation of the law was correct Well, the FSC didn't think so. Normally, they would be the last arbiter.
