Precisely right, to mention the modesty of the Bush's. These are people for whom drawing undo attention to oneself is a sin, as it feeds one's vanity and detracts from others. These are people with a strong sense of duty and of public service. They have a compelling need to live up to the family name, it is more a burden than a privilege.
Clinton is the "boxers or briefs" president. He is an attention grabber, the guy who has to be at the center of attention, and who boasts to the point of fabrication about his accomplishments. He wanted to be president because that is a cool thing to be, and because no one could dismiss him as a doofus from Hot Springs, Arkansas, again.
Hillary is the sort of person who grows up thinking she and her family are special, so special that nothing is good enough. If she is not in a mansion, with a fat portfolio, kowtowed to by flunkies and with a powerful influence in the nation, well, the world would not be worthy of her. Sunshine laws don't apply to her, as in the health care fiasco; how dare anyone question her representation of clients with substantial business before state regulatory commissions appointed by her husband?; why not take substantial gifts that would ordinarily be considered ethically dubious-- who could question her? |
