One way to know you're reached the twilight of the bubble is when the government begins to get active in supporting the mess by pulling levers here, pushing buttons there. We've had changes in accounting, surprise rate cuts, massive printing, relaxation of bank margin requirements, widespread calls for tax cuts, etc. The only thing that is yet to come is a government intervention that is met with true skepticism by the houses. It's met with skepticism because by its extreme nature it reveals how fragile the system is and exposes the level of fear at the highest level.
