| In Kansas City, from which my wife comes, there are various throwbacks. Winstead's is an old fashioned burger joint, the sort that has places to park and order and get a waitress to your car. Joe's Barn, on the Kansas side, is an old fashioned country smorgasbord dripping with rusticity. And, of course, there is the famous Arthur Bryant's Barbecue, which is more or less in the ghetto, and is was, last I knew, a pretty rundown place, which, nevertheless, attracts people throughout the metro area, and is know throughout the country....... |
