One hundred and forty dollars in vandalism on the plane?

I find the reactions to these incidents fascinating. The keyboard "W" business was first mentioned on Monday, I think, in the context of a clever practical joke. Then we get the Drudge report that makes it sound like vandalism in the million dollar range. Today the traditional media offer us several reports with considerable variation among them.

It takes a while for the principals and the media to sort through things. We should know what really happened before long. The certitude with which so many people make judgments before having the facts is amazing. I'm sure glad I didn't live in the wild west vigilante days where they hanged you first and didn't even bother to ask questions afterwards.
