Hello Michael, I was at Comdex Yesterday and Maxtor Had a small booth within a vendor, SED Internationals booth. SED International is a wholesaler and is located at sedonline.com or 1-800-444-8962. I spoke with a Rep at Maxtor and asked when Maxtor was going with 100% MR in the manufacture of their disk drives. She was not sure and referred me to Linda Bradshaw, the Boston area sales Manager. She stated that Maxtor would be 100% MR by the next quarter.She described and gave me information on their current two lines, the Crystal Max and the Diamond Max series. They are phasing out the Crystal Max thin film and going to The Diamond Max MR head design. I asked her about the contract they had with Ampex and KM/MR possibilities. She said that she did not know of the contract. Being a sales manager she may not know a lot about the engineering side but , she was very nice and very helpful. With KM's progress in the MR field I would not be surprised to see KM/MR in their Hard drives in the near future.
