Dave, re: "The doom & gloom Feb I've been hearing, my friends and father have been hearing from their brokers (I don't have one) really worries me." When everyone is doom and gloom, it's usually when you get the best rallies. My job isn't predicting markets, and I really have no clue what will happen on Monday, much less in February. But I have noticed that what folks think today, has very little correlation to what will happen in a week. If there is any relationship at all it leans towards the inverse. But you are right that the economy looks ugly at this point, and others are right that the market goes up when the Fed is lowering rates. It's Friday, the market's just closed, SanDisk was a major disappointment this week, you are cash anyway, time to think about golf. Have a great weekend... John
