I don't. I was wondering if you did (and from your answer apparently you do not). Some people think of Nazis as horrible evil but think much better of communists. Your point was apparently that it doesn't matter how evil the regime is the president should not joke about bombing them. Personally as long as it was private such a joke wouldn't bother me but obviously Reagan's comment was not private (although it was meant to be private he was carelous about talking in front of an open mike that day).

Would you find it amusing if a doctor followed his prognosis that you have a benign tumor on your leg with the joke that it [your leg] has to come off?

I would not find it amusing but I would have the strong negative reaction that some people had to the Reagan joke. (That assumes I knew it was a joke from the begining. If I thought he was serious for a second, I would be quite annoyed at the joke.)
