Eric L: Informative as always.

A question re: "Customers won't be flocking in to buy 1xRTT handsets. This is not Asia. I'll be in a short line, and with the exception of you, me, and our threadmates, nobody will be specifying "QUALCOMM Inside" (which is really too bad)."

Why?

Or to put it a little more clearly, since the doubling of voice capacity (roughly) depends on both having the proper infrastructure for 1x in place by Verizon and having handsets which use 1x, won't Verizon wish to get that extra capacity in place and functioning asap?

More to the point, since it appears that 1x phones will not be all that more expensive than CDMA One phones, why would Verizon not seed their customers with 1x capable phones which are backward compatible?

Look forward to your view.

Best as always.

Chaz

PS I for one will switch to a 1x phone as soon as it is made available from Verizon whether or not it can be used for 1x immediately in my geographical area.
