You are fun to debate with, Nadine.

"Gore did deserve a recount, one that actually counted all votes as carefully as possible"

I appreciate the noble sentiment, but do you really think that Al Gore wanted to count all the votes? It is clear to me that he did not. He wanted to maximize HIS votes. Set a very bad example imo and should have showed us all (or most of us) why he was not fit to be president.

"If he had lost the automatic recount by one vote would you still have advised him to just concede?"

Certainly. I would have wanted to see the results of the overseas ballots combined with the one vote edge, but as you know, Gore's allies tried to suppress those. On the other hand if Bush lost by one vote (including the military votes) my heart would have been broken for a while, but I would have accepted it. The margin of victory is already so mind numbingly small that it is hard to imagine it any closer.

By the way, Gore already had conceeded, but he took it back. Just a little fun with you here, because I don't blame Al for doing that. It is funny though. If he would not have taken it back his standing would be WAY higher in my mind.
