Re: quiet computers. My advise: get Athlon-800, and run it at 600MHz with Vcc=1.2V, maybe lower, 0.95V. No fan needed if you could find some old-style Slot-2 Xeon big heat sinks with wide-spaced fins suitable for free convection.
