limtex (OT economy) There were some signs and the jobless number was low. limtex, the unemployment number is still incredibly low on a historical basis, and has not worsened appreciably at all so far. In fact, from what I recall the latest numbers surprised everyone for how many fewer jobless claims there were compared to what they expected. i still don't see this global economic meltdown growth is ZERO SanDisk doesn't need a growth environment to thrive. the greatest beneficial economic grwoth in the history of the US to a grinding halt in virtually 1 qtr. This is so unbalanced in perspective I don't know where to begin. Here are just a few thoughts: 1. Where is it written that a zero-growth environment is forbidden, let alone preventable? 2. I think they were working to cool things off for far longer than 1 quarter. Besides, one could easily argue that no action at all would have led to an even higher market bubble, with perhaps a far faster and more calamitous collapse. In the absence of AGs push to slow things, I think what we'd ultimately witness would have been far worse. As for this... Well the IPO market has dried up so a lot of IPOs are on hold or even cancelled, and someof them are Biotechs and some of those biotechs are in the business of saving lives, lives of everyday ordinary people poeple like me and becuase they have been delayed or cancelled I might one day get ill and the medcine won't be there becuase the IPO got delayed it's pure polemics. IPOs are still going on, the money's just not there for hairbrained ideas to sell products at a loss and make it up on volume, or to pay an army of dotcommers to develop a site that has no revenue model other than advertising from page views.
