Yo Eric L, As usual, valuable viewpoint.

Agree that either Nokia has a working GPRS phone soon or Nokia will be in deep doo doo (Of course as you know I am skeptical as it is), so that is clearly number 1 priority.

Re:<<< The 1x market comparatively is small, and CDMA growth is somewhat stalled, everywhere but the Americas, and will be till we get to W-CDMA.

A final step (for the all important Americas) will be getting to 1xRTT. Next year is fine. A six to 9 month differential to market will not hurt Nokia relative to increasing CDMA market share.>>>

Putting on my Asia centric hat, I suggest that Korea and Japan (and very probably China) will be the main areas for CDMA 1x this year. Also suggest that Nokia misses that opportunity -- particularly China -- at some cost. But like you I expect Nokia to miss that possible market this year.

On North America, I would suggest that Sprint at least will shift to 1x phones as soon as practical, so for Nokia to miss that too will be a loss of potential sales for Nokia.

Time will tell.

Best as always.
