<<<bland believes that Charles Manson, who is as crazy as anyone bland has ever seen, should be put to
death. >>>

Bland's "should" looks unassailable, floating up there in outer space.!

Actually, Charles Manson "should" be slowly tortured by the relatives of his victims before he's put to death, until he admits he's a little piece of know-nothing sh*t!

Bland and E now feel better!

But...Bland, executions take place in systems.

In our system, the only one where Bland's "should" can operate, there's many a moral slip 'twixt the Manson and the "should."

Bland believes or doesn't believe that the the wildly unfair lottery that is our system is an acceptable system in which to kill in Bland's name.

Bland cares or doesn't that victims of crime might be saved if resources wasted on the costly death penalty were put where they might not feel as good but did more of it.

Bland and only bland can say whether the whole picture in which Bland's "should" is situated is a picture that makes Bland more or less morally comfortable than would imprisoning Manson for the rest of his life.

There are many "shoulds" in this world....
