Okay, devil's advocate time from someone who supports capital punishment: Charles Manson spent more than half his life behind bars before he was released from prison in the mid to late 1960's. When he was released, he was in his early 30's and he asked to stay in jail. But, this person, who knew little of life beyond jail was released....and we know what happened. Manson was responsible for horrible acts, but everytime I see Manson in an interview, I'm actually glad he's still alive because it reminds me of how the prison system can fail.
