I'm supportive of assistance in dying, too.

The "bright line" difficulty is there in everything that happens in stages. To me, saying it's too hard to find the precise place to draw it so let's use birth isn't convincing. It's like saying a breathalyzer shouldn't be used because the gradations are so slight it make no sense to draw a line there, so... we'll say you're too drunk to drive when you black out.

The current "line-phobia" position is self-defeating, also. If the original Roe vs Wade decision had made, say, four months the cut-off time, we wouldn't be in the position now of having RU486 under attack.

If nurses run crying out of the operating theater, the issue is not closed.
