> Q. Is this what youwould consider Rambus SPAM?
It probably would depend on the intent rather than the subject matter itself.
One of the two people on my ignore list is a person who feels compelled to drone the same things over and over again about how AMD is always the best company in the universe and how they never make bad calls. The other person is a fellow who seems to spend every waking moment about how AMD is the worst company in existence. The latter person, admittedly, is far worse, since this person does not hesitate to insult people to whom he disagrees in any way possible.
Both these people are capable of contributing useful things to the thread, and occasionally do that very thing, but overall these people have no compulsion with deteriorating attempts at friendly, civilized, intellectual discussion.
The whole wishful point of this thread was to foster helpful discussion, both pro and con, about Advanced Micro Devices, both as a company and as a stock. There are two major elements which battle against this intent: A) People will actively fight the moderator and assume that he's a Nazi scumbag, regardless of his intentions or actions B) The moderator is a wuss (no serious offense meant to Mani here!!) and (partly due to A above) has not been willing to take despotic control over this thread.
I know this sounds a bit strange, but even in an inherently representative democratic system, some idealized tasks can only be achieved by trusting absolute power to a select few. This is usually not the case, but a thread with a special subject matter will descend into flame wars and posturing unless the people are willing to let Trust be a factor.
Oh well. <g> |
