P.S.

Interesting stats re Palestine, from the NYT of Dec 24, 2000:

When a Palestinian is martyred in the war, no matter his age,
the Palestinian National Authority issues a one-time payment of $2000.
to his family, followed by monthly payments of $150. that continue until
the last child has left the house. The Red Crescent... contributes an
additional $2,500. And the government of Iraq donates $10,000. to every
martyr's family...."

The average annual income is $500 -$600 annually. To have a son die transforms a very poor family (it is not the rich who send their children to die) into a very rich one.

Another quote from the NYT article:

"At karni crossing, several of the boys mentioned that dying would not only transport them to paradise, it would also bring riches to their families.

I think most people don't know these figures.

I agree with your comments on the situation: They are both right, and both wrong, and I see no solution either.
