"Weekly BioRollerCoaster: On Monday 1-22-01, Biotechnology stocks continued their climb upward from the previous week, with the BTK soaring to close above 600. Biotech stocks rocketed on the news of U.S. Patent Office rulings in favor of one of the sectors leading companies. The biotech climb continued through Wednesday resulting in five upward trading sessions in a row. However, profit-taking entered the picture on Thursday with news of possible capacity constraints regarding the manufacturing of a rheumatoid arthritis drug. On Friday 1-26-01, biotechnology stocks ended the trading day mixed. The Amex Biotechnology Index (^BTK on Yahoo, BTK.X on SI) ended the week climbing 10.65%" (for individual stocks see biobiznet.com).
