I used to live in an apartment that was in a house that had been divided into 4 separate dwellings. A Greek guy owned the building and his family occupied the 1st floor. There was him, his wife, his sister, 2 or 3 younguns, and his parents living there. 3 generations all under one roof, just like the old days. He was a recent immigrant and was very hard working. He sold that building and bought a bigger and better one. When he moved out I left shortly after, as the new owner didn't live there and he allowed some riff raff to move in.

The guy is probably a real estate tycoon by now. I was always touched by how that family worked hard and stayed together and helped each other out. Its a little unsettling to think that those kinds of living arrangements may be illegal.
