"...I am looking for the best for an active trader...I am not a DAY TRADER but a POSITION SWING TRADER..." Like any profession I suggest getting the best equipment for the job Green. However you describe two somewhat different jobs. Active daytrading is a much different animal from position swing trading and hence different hardware and software requirements. Start with your broker(s). You should have atleast two as many of them fail when trading gets busiest and you need them most. Do you trade pre-post mkt hours, not all give you access. Others do, but don't allow shorts during these after-hours, a must IMO. If you are active then commissions may become a concern. Have you tried a LII platform, much faster executions then routing through a MM. Hardware: PIII is nice but since you are not doing any processing, an intel PII chip is fine. If you are using R/T charts (Qcharts, WoWS etc....) however, you need a minimum of 128 RAM and cache is also important. What about your inet connection, DSL and Cable are offered in most communities, I use both for back up. A graphic video card will allow you to hook up a second monitor so you can track important events or chatlines (like Sharcky Soup) while also monitoring stock charts, news events and the super bowl (go Giants)!!! Do check out systems at trikinetic.com but remember, there is nothing here you can't build yourself. Good luck. Sharck |
