I am in the Tristate area, in Chinatown, NYC they celebrate
new Year this weekend too. But the new year lost its charm lately because firecrackers are banned. The lion dance needs firecracker. Any way, we stay out of the crowd and cook our food at home.
Since we all look for authentic restaurant, in chinatown I would go for any restaurant that do NOT accept credit cards and the menu is limited to at most 10-15 dishes. A large choices in the menu means that same sauce are pouring into dishes with different type of meat. Example: we were in a Thai restaurant, one can order pork, chicken or beef THAI
noodle... same sauce pouring on the noodle but different type of meat !!! A vietnamese Pho or bun bo or bun oc: the
restaurant would use same soupe broth... Therefore
one should look at the menu, if too many choices, just pass on....
Good eating and tasting
