Brooke, why do people try to complicate things? I guess complicated gives the appearance of being good/secret. Something no one else could figure out. Really you probably addressed it with this

Trompe l'oeill says it all: It "creates such a strong illusion of reality that the viewer may not at first be sure whether the thing depicted is real or an illusion."

Anyway, the best things are the simple things and that is oh so true in trading. Like moving averages... A person can make a living trading using only a couple of SMA's and a couple of MACD's. They don't need all the others that just clutter their charts and their minds. The more complicated they make it the more ways they can screw it up.

For example we both know there are good trades most everyday using the 200 SMA trick...depending on which side it is moving toward.
