Korean Wireless Internet Subscribers Rise to 15 MLN in Dec.
SEOUL, Jan 29 Asia Pulse - The number of wireless Internet subscribers in Korea increased 774,000 from late November to 15.78 million last month, the Information and Communication Ministry said Monday.
Of the subscribers, Web browser users rose 1 million to 8.8 million in December, while those utilizing message-only transmission services stood at 6.9 million.

SK Telecom took 30.5 percent of the wireless Internet market with 4.8 million subscribers, followed by Korea Telecom Freetel with 4.7 million, or 29.9 percent.

LG Telecom's 3.3 million subscribers, or 21.4 percent, went online through wireless terminals, followed by Korea Telecom M.com's 2.1 million users, or 13.6 percent, and Shinsegi Telecomm's 734,000, or 4.6 percent.

"With more terminals accessible to Web browsers, the number of wireless Internet subscribers is on the increase," a ministry spokesman said.
