On TV if someone says "X" it is felt that it is necessary to have some one else say "not-X." It's their way of being "fair" and also not having to worry about being sued for leading anyone astray. So if you become known for always saying the same thing about the same subject it makes their life that much easier. They probably always call him when they need "balance."
