I respectfully disagree.

"Who "won" and who is in office is apparently
two different things."

Bush WON (by our democratic process) and Bush IS in office.
I don't see your point. I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, that we have a system in place called the electoral college. I submit that most voters knew that prior to the election. If not, they should have.

"Regardless of the outcome, in lieu of how f*cked up the
process was, the process has to change."

There's room for change, I agree; however, voters need to educate themselves on how to vote with the process that is currently in place at the time of the election.

"If such gross inaccuracy occurred in Serbia,
we'd disavow the authority of the victor."

No argument there, except, if it were in the best interest of the USA for such inaccuracies, then I think not. That's just how it is.

"This is irrespective of any party
point of view and any flippant and cartoonish use
of the words "liberal" or "conservative"."

Agreed.

"Life simply isn't a dichotomy."

Couldn't prove that by me with party lines such as they are.

"All the votes should have been counted for
BOTH Gush and Bore. (Bore? A Freudian slip? LOL)
The process should be clear and simple making it possible for the greatest and highest participation."

I agree.

"If you read those articles, people who chose
to vote for BOTH candidates didn't have their votes
counted once for a variety of reasons ranging
from unclear language and problems with machines
and ballots."

I read them. The voter has the responsibility to make sure he/she did it right. It's become to easy for people to blame their misfortune on everything but themselves. Maybe a conservative government can help change some of those problems....i.e. People taking responsibility for their actions. There's always hope.

"Bush isn't to blame for this, nor was that my intention in sharing that article."

I do believe that was not your intention or I wouldn't be responding to you now. I do respect your insight.

"But the problems with the process that discard votes
that never got counted isn't what should happen in
a democracy."

I believe the votes that didn't get counted were improper votes that shouldn't be counted. To me, the system is working, at least by the current rules/laws.

"You do believe in votes being counted, don't ya?
How would you feel if you cast a vote and it wasn't
counted in a tight election?"

Yes I do if cast properly. If I wanted my vote to count, then I'd make sure it were cast properly.

"You do believe in the democratic process?"

Yep. And I do believe it worked this time around by all laws in place at the time of the election. It's a great process.

"Regardless, hopefully what occurred will lead to
correcting these problems in states like Florida
so that people who choose to participate have their
votes counted in future elections."

I couldn't agree more. Hopefully they will have all electronic voting in place with pictures of the candidates next to the voting button. Make it as idiot proof as possible.

I really am tiring of this back and forth banter. I sincerely appreciate your views and candor. Let's let this dead dog lie.

Have a good evening,
Jerry
