The companies that have hedged were the smart ones. They protected their revenue stream and in doing so, protected the shareholders assets. I think that the problem with gold is that supply outweighs demand. Simple supply and demand economics. There is just so much gold in vaults that could be available for selling into the market. Senior miners are the most knowledgeable about their markets. Even Barrick has put projects on hold.

Gold Reserve is a bet on the outcome of the Las Cristinas legal saga. It does not like a stand alone project would make sense. On the other hand, no one knows how and when the Las Cristinas saga will end, and thus how Gold Reserve will be impacted by a potential joint venture.
