Yes, the operative term in the article is that it is speculation, not a forecast. He did, however, make much the same speculation about last October, if I recall correctly. Who knows for sure what the weather is going to be?

As for me, I tend to take a longer term perspective on stocks, mainly because I rarely have time during the day to closely follow the market. Have done some short term trading from time to time, but usually don't have the time. Not disagreeing with you. Each of us has to follow his or her own personality and style.

When I bought the nat gas E&Ps last summer and fall, my intention was to be out of them by mid February, then come back in in late spring perhaps. I do not believe the downside is that bad on any of them, so if we don't get another weather related pop, I am not uncomfortable holding them for a longer term. By "shoulder season" next fall, I'll have the long term gains instead of short.
