USFilter & Service Systems International Announce Exclusive Marketing Alliance For Ultraviolet Disinfection Technology
PALM DESERT, Calif., & VANCOUVER, B.C. Jan. 29, 2001 -- USFilter and Service Systems International (OTCBB:SVSY) have signed a definitive agreement to launch a strategic alliance to market Service Systems' ultraviolet disinfection technology for water and wastewater applications.
Since October 2000, both companies have participated in Ultra Guard® UV product information exchange and training. USFilter's Wallace & Tiernan Products, Vineland, N.J., is now advancing its distribution network, as well as promoting and selling the UV technology. A newly created position of product manager of UV technologies will manage USFilter's UV product and technical support team.
Ron Casatelli, vice president and general manager of USFilter's Wallace & Tiernan Products said, "We've received favorable customer interest in the Ultra Guard® advanced ultraviolet disinfection technology due to the product's performance results, lower operating costs and modular installation."
"The Ultra Guard® UV technology is expected to gain rapid acceptance as we demonstrate, promote and offer its differentiated capabilities through our sales channels. We are excited about the alliance and the addition of UV technology to our range of cost-effective disinfection solutions," added Casatelli.
Ken Fielding, president and CEO of Service Systems said, "Our company will enjoy the benefits of working with the largest company in the water industry and is now positioned to become a significant supplier of ultraviolet products to a market with increasing demand. The alliance provides for Service Systems to manufacture Ultra Guard® products at its new plant in Coquitlam, British Columbia and USFilter will handle the commercial side, including sales and marketing responsibilities and customer interface."
Peter Colak, Service Systems vice president of marketing and sales said, "The strategic alliance will permit us to build onto our achievements, which include world scale projects such as the city of Toronto (combined sewer overflow) and city of Peterborough, Ontario. These systems, valued at over $2.3 million, were awarded on the merits of our technology. The projects currently being built will provide a platform for our success enabling USFilter to immediately begin selling Ultra Guard® products within the Americas."
