I find it more than suspect that they neglected to report the house as a gift in the first place...if someone GIVES YOU a house without you paying for it, then that is a GIFT, pure and simple!...whether or not she paid for it some years later is meaningless and the AP research from April of 1988 also went on to ask for the loan papers, which of course there were none.
