The largest unionized segment of our economy is the government. A government worker is almost twice as likely to belong to a union as a worker in private industry. Most growth in union membership in recent years has been confined to public sector employees. Why are these people unionized? Do they need protection from an employer who does not have their interests at heart (that employer being the people)?
