Equity holders are always the last in line. Debt gets paid off before the shareholders get anything but after the lawyers.

Last time I had a big corporate client that went bankrupt we continued to do work for them only with up front expense money and at rates 2x times what we normally charged. When it was all over very little money even went to the debt holders. The lawyers got most of the assets, the bond holders got a quarter on the dollar and vendors that didn't negociate notes for recievables got shafted along with the equity holders.
