Your remarks are absurd... it's not about the money, it's about the inefficiencies of government regulated (read, obstructed) innovation and choice. The issue is not a free market, but a free people.

I cannot 'go to Tijuana and buy whatever I want'... many potentially ground-breaking therapies are being slowed or even stalled entirely by government intervention in what should be unencumbered research and development. The reluctance of many (most?) to be responsible for their own lives and decisions allows and encourages a state structure that restricts the freedom and potential of all.

You will notice that I do not advocate removing your crutch... indeed, I would myself probably subscribe to some independent medical therapy/drug certification service. The common-sense need for such an organization makes it clear that several/many would exist without the current stifling government regulation and licensing of medical services/products. Follow your FDA-analogue organization's recommendations to your hearts content... just stop forcing others to abide by your criteria.

I would certainly take responsibility for researching and planning my own medical activities. I have no problem if your own research methods involve the acceptance of some group or agency's guidelines. Just keep your nose and preferences out of everyone else's life and stop forcing others to live as you think they ought!
