re:Intel’s Non-MPU Biz Stalls

IMO, its impossible to determine if Intel has done a good job with their investments without understanding the strategic intent of each alliance. Just looking at aggregated financials such as revenue and costs, especially in the short-term, will not get you a clear picture. As with any portfolio, both risk & return are important. Intel may have made investments that were clearly a defensive play against market/technology trends or a positioning play to align themselves with/against certain competitors. Or, the intent may have been to learn as much as possible from the partner, and then apply the knowledge to different parts of the business. Having said this, I think Intel has done a poor job conveying this message to the investment community. There continues to be more & more questions about the non-MPU business & negative-bias articles like the one you posted.
