Somewhere I read someone say "anywhere would be better than the dollar". That thought seems to stick with me.

Thanks for the pointer- my thinking was fixed in the CD line. I see you can open accounts for as little as $2500 too, though "Accounts with balances less than approximately $10,000 do not earn interest. Interest rates paid mirror those in foreign countries of similar size."
