OT <Datacraft Asia[OTC: DKKBF]> Over US$12m worth of contracts strengthen Datacraft iBOSS' lead in the OSS/BSS market

Less than five months after launching its iBOSS portfolio of software and services, Datacraft Asia has successfully penetrated the fast emerging business and operation support systems (BSS/OSS) market by securing more than US$12 million worth of contracts. In doing so it has become a key partner to Internet and Telecom service providers from around the region seeking to create, deploy and manage new, highly differentiated Internet-based services.

The strong uptake of the Datacraft iBOSS (Internet Business and Operation Support Systems) solution underscores the burgeoning demand for tools that shorten time-to-market for new IP-based services and deliver them flawlessly. The success of iBOSS vindicates Datacraft's first-in strategy to penetrate the huge OSS and BSS market, estimated by Garner Group Dataquest to be around US$40 billion worldwide in 2001.

"Today's telcos and ISPs are under tremendous pressure to innovate new service offerings," said Wong Wen Ming, Datacraft's director of marketing. "Intense competition, falling margins of traditional voice and data services, and rising customer expectations have accentuated the need for value-added services such as virtual private network, unified messaging, IP telephony and voice VPN services.

"The launch of iBOSS last September was a timely response to these pressures. Our pre-integrated OSS and BSS solution enables service providers to deploy new services quickly and effectively on top of their traditional Internet access and wide-area connectivity infrastructure."

iBOSS consolidates software solutions from market leaders to offer best-of-breed operation and business support systems in areas such as IP billing, voice-over-IP, service self-provisioning, managed network services, fault management and performance management.

PT Metrodata Global Akses, a rapidly expanding Indonesia-based Internet service provider, has deployed iBOSS' carrier-grade billing system to create multiple price plans, including increasingly popular pre-paid Internet services. The solution also enables the ISP to respond to any customer query or service request in real time, whilst increasing customer satisfaction.

The same solution was also deployed for the first time by leading Internet service provider AsiaIP Malaysia, as well as several other telecom companies from China, Indonesia, Philippines and Japan.

VoIP VPN, another component in the iBOSS suite, is being deployed by telecom giant China Unicom as part of its new 311-city network rollout. The VoIP application enables China Unicom to tap the lucrative enterprise VoIP market and use its IP backbone to offer calling features previously available only via wide area circuit switched networks. Once implemented, China Unicom's voice VPN will deliver high-quality VoIP telecommunications services at significantly lower rates than those offered by traditional telecom carriers in China.

Hutchison Global Crossing in Hong Kong is also relying on iBOSS to provide fault management to its Internet data centre. The system is used to help the application service provider respond quickly and accurately to critical network problems on a 24x7 basis.

Datacraft's performance management solution, meanwhile, is used by several banks and multinational corporations to optimise the performance of their mission-critical networks. The network-enhancing solution proactively monitors customer networks and provides regular performance and quality-of-service reports so that customers can identify and resolve potential bottlenecks before they become critical.

Asia Internet Holding (AIH), a consortium that operates one of the largest Asia Pacific Internet hubs, also partners with Datacraft to uphold the availability of its regional IP VPN network. Through Datacraft's STARtrac, iBOSS provides round-the-clock network management through centres in Singapore, Japan, Korea and New Zealand, with a single point of contact for problem resolution across the region.

"We are very pleased to win so many iBOSS deals within a short time frame. These projects are an excellent showcase of Datacraft's ability to deliver end-to-end data communication solutions from hardware technologies to software solutions that improve business processes and applications. With our strong track record in building high-performance networks and business systems, we are confident of continuing the momentum and strengthening our lead in the OSS and BSS arena," said Wong.

Datacraft Asia is the region's leading independent network systems integrator and e-business enabler. Listed on the main board of the Singapore Exchange, Datacraft is in the business of building and managing Internet infrastructure, implementing online business solutions and delivering value-added network services for service providers and corporate customers across Asia Pacific.

The company offers unparalleled regional coverage and specialist support with its extensive network of 62 offices throughout Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, India, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, New Zealand, Vietnam, Philippines, Japan and Korea.
