Regarding your comments about AWE and - "Wonder what happened behind the scenes to piss ATT off so badly a few years ago".

One answer lies with Michael Armstrong. He was formerly with Hughes. QCOM (specifically its founders) have a history of kicking Hughes' butt in many different businesses. Linkabit days with Video Cypher and VSAT (hughes network systems is the old Linkabit Telecom division), OmniTRACS, plus others.

Michael Armstrong's ego and NOK's pride have cost both companies their competitive edge. So when Michael Armstrong was asked by Fortune Magazine a year or two ago if they would ever use QCOM, he said never. The fact that he answered the question tells you he has a bug up his ass.

He should be gone soon and new management will have an opportunity to rationalize cdma. Its still a matter of when not if AWE will use cdma. FWIW.
Thanks
Web.
